Board Rules

The message boards are a community bulletin board for the Cayman Islands — somewhere to ask questions, share news, and swap local knowledge. A few simple rules keep them friendly and useful for everyone. They apply to every board, thread, and reply.

  1. 1. Be civil

Disagree with ideas, not people. No harassment, personal attacks, name-calling, hate speech, or threats — including against anyone because of who they are. If a conversation is getting heated, step away rather than escalate it.

  2. 2. Keep it clean

The boards are family-friendly: everything here should be fine to read at work or around the kitchen table. No profanity or expletives (creative spelling included), and no sexual, graphic, gory, or deliberately shocking content — in posts, titles, or links.

  3. 3. Stay on topic

The boards are for topics relating to the Cayman Islands or to Bazaar itself. Post in the board that fits (see the boards directory), keep replies relevant to the thread, and start a new thread rather than taking over someone else’s.

  4. 4. No spam, scams, or excessive self-promotion

Don’t flood threads, repeat the same post, or advertise. Linking to a Bazaar listing is fine where it’s genuinely relevant to the discussion — but to sell something, post a listing on the marketplace instead. Anything that tries to con people out of money or personal details is removed.

  5. 5. Respect people’s privacy

Don’t post anyone else’s personal information — an address, phone number, workplace, photos, or anything else that identifies them — and don’t share private messages or conversations without consent. Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not, whether another member, a business, or a moderator.

  6. 7. Posting anonymously

Some boards let you post without your name. That’s a privilege tied to your verified account, not a disguise: moderators can still see who posted, and every rule here applies just the same. Misusing it can cost you the option, or your place on the boards.

  7. 8. How moderation works

When several people report a post, it’s hidden until a moderator reviews it, and members can help decide whether it should stay hidden. Moderators may remove posts that break these rules and can ban accounts from a board, temporarily or permanently. A long or permanent ban can be appealed from the ban page you’re shown.

  8. 9. Report it, don’t fight it

If something breaks these rules, report it rather than replying to it: choose Report in the ▶ menu on the post, or on the thread in a board’s list. Reports go to our moderators, not to the person you’re reporting — here’s what happens next.

These rules sit alongside our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, which apply across all of Bazaar. Where something isn’t covered, use common sense — and if you’re unsure, ask us through the Contact page or visit the Help Center.
